Fulbright Receives “Rookie of the Year” Award from LACBA's Food from the Bar Campaign

On June 20th, Fulbright's Los Angeles office received the "Rookie of the Year" Award and Gold Level recognition for its participation in a month-long fundraising effort for the 2012 Food from the Bar Campaign sponsored by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
The award is presented to a single firm who has, in its first time efforts, accrued the highest level of contributions. This campaign raises funds to help parents feed their families with food from local pantries and food kitchens.
In addition to collecting food, Fulbright raised $6,200 for the Food Bank through individual monetary donations and activities, which included a bake sale that raised $350 and a happy hour/silent auction that raised more than $3,000. Some of the items sold at the auction were sporting activities and lessons, complimentary 4-star hotel stays, and various collectibles including a signed Troy Polamalu Pittsburgh Steelers football jersey.
Over 70 participating firms were honored at the ceremony held at the Los Angeles County Bar offices—several of whom were participating for the first time.
Despite the downturn in the economy, the campaign surpassed previous records, raising $375,000, collecting more food than ever, and donating hundreds of volunteer hours to the Food Bank.
The campaign began at the Downtown Kick-Off on April 25 where several volunteers competed alongside a Fulbright team of 30 in a 20-minute battle against the clock to fill as many backpacks as possible with food. Each backpack was distributed to children in the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank's BackPack Program.
"I have never been more proud to represent our firm than I was tonight at the awards ceremony," said Fulbright Los Angeles Partner-in-Charge Peter Mason." The enthusiasm, collective involvement and outpouring of generosity for this cause has helped so many people in our community."
