AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
EXPERIENCE

Jim Dreyfus, who became a partner in 1981 and practices in the firm's New York office, headed the tax practice there for more than a decade. His practice involves a broad range of federal income tax matters, with a focus on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, transactional work and private investment funds. He has extensive experience in structuring acquisitions, buy-outs and dispositions, and in representing private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Jim also regularly represents institutional investors in their investments in private equity funds, hedge funds and real estate funds. In addition, he also has been involved in a variety of federal and New York State tax audits and tax controversy matters. Finally, Jim advises various charitable organizations in the areas of charitable giving, governance, compliance with endowment requirements, and maintenance of tax-exempt status.
