Washington D.C. Lawyer Achieves Certification in Privacy

The International Association of Privacy Professionals has certified Fulbright senior counsel Erika Brown Lee in the area of information privacy.

Developed in 2004, to be credentialed as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), candidates must have a strong foundation in U.S. privacy laws and regulations and meet the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to and from the United States, the European Union and other jurisdictions.

In addition to the completion of the coursework, Brown Lee passed two certification examinations.

Prior to her tenure at Fulbright, Brown Lee served in the Federal Trade Commission’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection where she worked on investigations regarding data security, health and financial privacy, and credit reporting. In addition to regulatory experience in antitrust matters, Brown Lee also has a background in consumer protection issues, including advertising and debt relief services.
