For nearly three years, Julie Capell, a senior associate in the labor and employment department of Fulbright's Los Angeles office, has been editing a new civil procedure manual from Jones McClure Publishing, entitled O’Connor’s California Practice - Civil Pretrial 2011.

The manual was just released with Julie Capell as the only lawyer among the other editors, who are law professors and a retired judge. This is a particularly remarkable accomplishment as the manual is expected to be widely distributed to practitioners across California.

While civil practice has changed over the years, few pretrial procedure manuals have kept pace, using the same style, format and function since first written. O’Connor’s manual should be a fresh take on civil procedure. With detailed commentaries and a unique chronological structure, the manual will guide the reader step by step through the maze of procedural rules and statutes.

Julie, who concentrates her practice on labor and employment law, had this to say about the process: "I learned much from this project that will be useful in my practice."
